We are delighted to be carrying Veja sneakers in the shop this year! They're a brand we've admired from afar for years and it's truly a dream come true to make them available for your little (and not so little) ones.
We love everything about this brand - starting with their concept. Veja is the Portuguese word for "look", and they invite you to look beyond the shoe. Look at the production, look at the materials, look at the people who make the shoe.
Next up, we love their process. Veja uses materials like cotton and rubber purchased directly from producers with Fairtrade practices. The majority of their shoes are vegan, but those which are made of leather also does so in the most ethical way. Their leather is tracible and with chemical transparency, meaning they know where it comes from and what's in it. This degree of detail and values brings us so much joy!
Creating a shoe with sustainable materials in a humane factory, and adhering to Fairtrade practices make this shoe significantly more expensive to produce than other footwear. Yet Veja brings down the would-be price by refusing to advertise (a large part of most brand's budget.) So you can be assured you're buying the most environmentally-friendly, humanely-produced, and quality shoe at the same cost of similar shoes on the market who have none of those virtues.
We're one of the only children's retailers in Canada to sell Veja, so we've decided to carry sizes from toddler to teen to meet the demand. We have five models, ranging from the smallest sizes up to teen/mom and dad sizes. Please check the sizing chart to be sure if you're not used to European sizing. And note that as sizes go up the equivalent US sizing is men's not women's (so if you usually wear a women's 9, you'd probably choose a US 7).
For the tiniest feet (sizes 23-27, which is toddler 7-10 respectively), we have the V-12 Leather Velcro Sneakers in light pink, khaki, dark blue.
For the toddlers and little kids (sizes 28-32, which is toddler 11 to kids 1 respectively), we have the Esplar Leather Lace Sneakers in white with blue and yellow accents, and white with pink and red accents.
For big kids and teens (sizes 32-39, which is kids 1 to men's 7 respectively), we have the V-10 CWL Sneakers in white/pearl, which are the most popular by far!
Some styles are available in a wider range of sizes, like the V-12 Leather Velcro Sneakers in white with blue accents and white with red accents, the Esplar Leather Velcro in white, which we have in sizes 23-35 (which is toddler 7 to big kids 4) and the Canary Alveomesh Sneakers in white/stone, which we have in sizes 25-35 (which is toddler 8.5 to big kids 4).
We occasionally receive Veja sneakers through our Re-Cycle program so we can attest to how well they hold up. Remember, anything bought from us may be sold back through our Re-Cycle program within two years, so take that into consideration when you buy.
